Approaching the 90 day deadline...

It's been over 2 months since passing the exam and submitting my experience application... still waiting on the official certificate. I don't know what they do that would take 3 months, but they are waiting the entire 3 months to make this official. They did the same thing with our rookie when he passed his level 1.

How much could there be to verify when they've been certifying me for the last 13 years?

NICET LEVEL 3 CERTIFIED!

It is official! I passed theNICET level 3 advanced hydraulics course! Never thought it would actually happen. lol. It did take 2 tries… but I studied twice as hard after failing the first test by no more than 2 questions  and the re-test was cake! I had made it thru the first 53 questions with an hour left so I got the proctors attention and took a restroom break. I’m confident I walked out with 52 questions correct and 3 I had to take a total guess on. Video update to come!

NICET Level III - Advanced Hydraulics preperations have begun...

Life hasn't slowed down a bit... but today I decided I've waited long enough. $239.00 for 90 access to Firetech's online course. Fortunately I can turn this expense in to my employer once I've passed the test.

I'm still nervous about this one... I know the general plans test turned out to be cake after the online course completion. But this one... I'm going to spend a couple weeks going through this before I commit to a test date. WISH ME LUCK!

I passed Level 3 general plans!

It’s been a long time coming… but I finally pushed through. Studied hard, REAL HARD, for two weeks. I would not recommend cramming like I did in the final days before my scheduled exam day… but passed the first level 3 test. I plan to put together another YouTube video to talk about how I studied, what I studied, what the test center was like as well as the test itself. I still feel like there are not enough people out there talking about the process to make us lower level folks more confident to move up.

WOULD NOT have made it without Firetechs online test prep. So if by some chance you are seeing this before I post more information, just know your best chance at being prepared is to use their online course. Very comprehensive and ACCURATE. Also important to note, do not waste time or money on National Training Center (NTC) material.

I passed! Such a relief for my whole family to have it over with.

Next… Advanced Hydraulics… someday.

The NICET webpage seems to have undergone a little remodel... It took me forever to find this link containing the information you HAVE TO HAVE about the test topics and what materials you are allowed to bring into the test. This should have been much easier to find...

Before I share the link to the next Study Guide section, I want to complain a little about the NTC Grey book. I hope you haven't wasted any money on this publication yourself, or if you have, I hope they've improved. I ordered this book in 2013 and was LIVID at how useless it really was. The NTC description is so far from accurate its not even funny.

Just as the title says, This is a "CERTIFICATION GUIDE", not a study guide for test prep. I expected a large book with lots of useful information and what I got was a book of sample test questions and directions on how to apply for your NICET.

The book is $150.00 direct from NTC (over priced) and on Amazon and Ebay sells for a little over $200... Haven't figured that one out yet...

Check out this guys Amazon review...

He seems to share the same sentiment I do regarding this book.. and it seems he way over payed purchasing on Amazon. NTC does not have a way to rate or review the book on its own page so there's no way to warn other designers of what they are really getting.
